the real sports gal.....
this saturday, jen and i visited the happiest place on earth....
i wish.....
instead, we went to disneyland for jen's bday. before we headed to disneyland, i had to get an oil change for my accord.
we got to dealership around 8:30 a.m. hoping no one would be there. but when we got there, we were told my car would be done at 10:15. i asked how come it's going to take so long and she informed me that there are "just" 35 cars in front of me. what the heck? are they changing the oil for all the cars on the lot?
so we head over to the waiting room which happens to have four plasma tvs showing "college gameday"! i was sooooo excited! i didn't mind if we had to stay for 5 hours! jen on the other hand didnt seem too happy.....
as im sitting there watching "college gameday" and reading the paper, jen is sitting there looking pretty bored. as i glanced over at jen, i was thinking about this guy who writes for espn (not in that way. actually...sort of). his name is bill simmons and every friday he writes about his nfl picks for the upcoming games on sunday. in his article, he also has his wife, the sports gal, randomly pick games to see who will have a better record at the end of the season. so far bill simmon's wife is kicking his ass. and he's a so-called "professional" analyst....
since simmons has the nfl covered, i decided to steal his idea and asked jen to pick this saturday's top 25 games. here are her picks i remembered and the reason behind why she took them (since its her first week, she will not go against the spread. she just needs to pick the winner):
#1 ohio st vs. indiana: ohio st. "they're number one, right?"
#2 michigan vs. iowa: michigan. no reason, cause i gave her the look of death if she took iowa.
#4 w. virginia vs. connecticut: w. virginia? (yes jen, they won yesterday. we were watching the game.)
#5 texas vs. #17 nebraska: texas. "they beat usc, right?" (yes, they beat your alma mater. as you can tell, she's still reeling from the national championship loss.)
#21 wisconsin vs. purdue: wisconsin. "because milk is good for you."
#10 notre dame vs. ucla: rolled her eyes. she couldnt believe i even asked. so im guessing notre dame?
#11 cal vs. washington: washington. "oh...huskies. i like dogs."
#7 tennessee vs. alabama: tennessee. "cause you're the only ten i see."
#22 boston college vs. florida st: boston college. "cause we went to boston."
#19 rutgers vs. pitt: pitt. "cause they're going to "steel" the game. jen, thats the nfl. i dont care."
#12 clemson vs. #13 georgia tech: clemson. "their paw logo is cute!"
#14 lsu vs. fresno st: lsu. "isnt ralph machio from fresno? you mean k-fed? no, i mean karate kid."
jen's record: 18-1.
maybe i should have asked jen for her picks when i started sports betting. anyway....lets see how jen does next week.
stayed tuned.....

i think jen is still in denial from the SC loss, she blocked it out of her mind completely.....very sad.
If Jen is the Sports Gal and you're kind of like Bill Simmons, can I be Jason Whitlock? Um, though I suppose he's not with ESPN anymore...
